What is FP Institute?
FP Institute (Fundamentals of Preparation Institute) is a specialist educational publisher of FE exam prep books. We publish a trilogy of books built around the NCEES® Reference Handbook, the only document permitted during the FE exam.
What does "Handbook-First Method" mean?
It is the pedagogical approach behind our books. Every concept, formula, and practice problem maps to a specific page of the NCEES® FE Reference Handbook (currently v10.6). Instead of memorizing material, you learn to navigate the exact resource you will be given on exam day.
Which version of the NCEES® Handbook do your books align to?
NCEES® Reference Handbook v10.5 is in effect until 30 June 2026. Version 10.6 enters into effect on 1 July 2026. The current FE Mechanical edition (2026/2027) is built around v10.5. A v10.6 update is in preparation. Our editorial policy is to align each book edition to the Handbook version in effect at the time of printing.
Is FP Institute affiliated with NCEES®?
No. FP Institute is a specialist educational publisher and operates independently. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NCEES®. References to the NCEES® Reference Handbook are made for educational purposes only.
Who endorses your books?
Each book in our trilogy has an independent foreword and endorsement by a Licensed Professional Engineer with verifiable credentials in the relevant discipline. FE Mechanical: James M. Wright, P.E. How can I buy your books?
FE Mechanical: The Handbook-First Method is available in paperback and hardcover on Amazon. FE Electrical and Computer is launching soon. A digital edition for direct purchase on fp-institute.com is in preparation.
Do you offer refunds?
Books purchased on Amazon are subject to Amazon's return policy. Once the digital edition is available for direct purchase on fp-institute.com, refund terms will be published at checkout.
Will FP Institute books help me pass the FE exam?
Our books provide structured preparation aligned to the current NCEES® Handbook. Outcomes depend on individual study effort, time invested, and prior preparation. We make no guarantees about exam outcomes. We do not collect or publish pass-rate claims about our customers.

Yes. FE Mechanical (Edition 2026/2027) contains over 3,100 NCEES®-based practice problems with detailed step-by-step solutions, 1,100+ figures, unlimited CBT simulator sessions, and coverage of all AIT (Alternative Item Type) question formats.
